Digging for a home or a grave, 2023

Combining various media, this exhibition looks at the role of gregarious insects, and more specifically ants, in the imaginary and material institutions of our societies. I work from photographic images that I manipulate and transfer onto various media in a desire to shift towards the object. Together, these images attempt to form a cartography of reflections on the human condition in a world where the social and environmental are now dealt with only through technology. This work questions the double-edged notion of care: is the injunction to take care of ourselves directed at us, or does it feed our desire to perform?
In ‘Digging for a home or a grave’, the bodies in restraint try to stretch out and take their place, while the steel balls cross the grooves made for them.
